I was born in Baton Rouge, LA. and grew up there most of my life. I got married at a young age and we moved to the Nashville area, in the late 80’s. Music has always played an important role in my life. My parents were heavy into church and I started singing in choirs in my early teenage years, picked up playing the Piano from my uncle Erman, when I was nine years old. He was an amazing fiddle player. My whole immediate family was into music, Mom, sang, Dad sang and played guitar, my Brother, sings and plays guitar, and my Sister also sings, its in our blood.
Although, I play a lot of Jazz and Blues, I do love Country Music and love to write country songs. Country music is about telling a story. Most of what Country does is draw you with your own home transparency of what’s really going on in life. I think many listeners can relate to these stories so it is easier for them to understand.
Some of my favorite Country artist growing up were Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn. Their experiences in life were something I could relate to and understand. Some of the latest artist that I love are Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, and Jennifer Nettles. I also loved artist like Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, and there are many more. I used to love going to New Orleans and listening to some of those great Jazz artist as well.
